Pain in the Neck

A week ago last Tuesday Kiros woke me up at about 3am in a lot of pain. Unable to lay down or turn around.

Initially I couldn't work out what was wrong, and started to panic, but after watching him for a while realised that the pain appeared to be in his neck.

The Vet thinks it was either muscular, arthritis, slipped or hardened disc and gave him a dose of pain killers and a weeks worth to come home with.

Now he's finished the dose he is completely back to normal, if not better. So much so that he has been running around like a puppy in the Snow!!

The weather has caused a bit of disruption to my work this week but has given me time to get all of the Xmas decorations up and I think they look lovely with the Snow on the ground.

Unfortunately the Snow has also meant that Ade and my favourite event on our Christmas calender - Lincoln Christmas Market - has had to be cancelled :(

To make up for it we went to Melton today and I managed to pick up three new baubles for the Tree - Isn't it supposed to be bad luck not to get at least one a year?!!

I'm really looking forward to next weekend. Off to LKA with Lynne on Saturday for Deco's first Champ Show and Agility Nuts on Sunday. I'm not Judging so should have time to concentrate on running Kiros and Reno.

Kiros is my first competing Agility dog.

He was born in a foster home for the Animal Accident Rescue Unit in 2000. His Mum was picked up by them heavily pregnant when her current owner threatened to drown her!

I re homed him when he was 4 months as his previous home wasn't right for him. How lucky was I? He is a real Agility star taking us from Elementary to Grade 6 with an Agility win in Grade 6 as well. We have also qualified for the ABC semi-final four times and qualified for the final at Olympia in 2008. It was an awesome experience! My boy ran a lovely round at Olympia and finished in 4th place.

In November 2010 I noticed that Kiros wasn't jumping as easily as he used to so I made the hard decision to put him into Veterans. I have to say I have no regrets as he still really enjoys what he is doing and, hopefully, will be able to enjoy it for years to come:-)

Kiros is a pure mongrel. His Mum was definitely a GSD cross but I have no idea what his Dad was? Probably a BSD as Kiros looks and acts so much like a Malinois?

Reno is my baby, born on 24th October 2008.

I fell in love with BSD Malinois from the moment I first saw them. Mainly because of their similarity to Kiros in looks, nature and working ability.

Reno's Dad is Ronny (Bonvivant Kronik) a Malinois that I have admired for some time. When I heard he was fathering a litter of puppies I just had to have one! I'm so glad that I did as Reno is such a sweet little boy. Bags of personality, full of mischief and very loving.

He started his Agility training when he was a year old. I really wanted to use "shaping" to train Reno as he is quite sensitive and I don't think he would react well to being told to do something. Shaping does require quite a lot of time and patience but I am confident I will see the benefits in the long run.

He started competing at KC shows in 2011 (we dabbled a little the year before but I've realised it was too soon) and are just at the stage where everything is beginning to come together. Reno has recently won Grade 3 Agility taking him to KC Grade 4.
