Doggie Weekend in Dorset

Kiros, Reno and I had a lovely weekend in Dorset.

I managed to get some great shots of them all playing ball with Dad in the garden. Reno really looks like he is focused on the ball but it is really the "chucky" that has his attention. Unfortunately Kiros sat this game out!

Reno is big enough to play tuggie with Ollie now so they tugged each other to sleep every night. (Sorry about the dark video.)

He has had his KC name confirmed. He is officially Bonvivant Weapon of Choice. I'm going to curse Ade for choosing that one every time I have to fill in an Agility competition entry form!

"Ear" today gone tomorrow!!

Reno's ears are all over the place at the moment! As you can see, on Sunday he had perfect little pointy ears but they seem to have had grown all of a sudden and yesterday they were both flopping. Today one's on it's way back up but the other isn't.

This week he has been to both Kiros's Agility classes and met different people and Dogs. He is getting a lot more comfortable with people already but still prefers Dogs.

As I've almost had Reno for 4 weeks and he is now almost 13 weeks old I thought I'd try and show how much he has grown. On his first day with us he weighed just over 6kg and he now weighs 10.5kg.

Kiros, Reno and I are of to Dorset again tomorrow so I'm hoping he will remember everyone down there. I'm sure they will notice a change in him.

Reno's first Puppy Class

The visit to the Vets went really well. Reno was so busy eating he didn't notice the mircochip being injected into him. He wasn't that keen on the Kennel Cough vaccine though (who can blame him?)but forgave the Vet as he offered him treats afterwards!

I spent a really enjoyable morning with Kiros yesterday. We had a training session booked at NADTC and it was lovely to spend some time just with him. We did a lot of work on motivation and contacts, fast and fun.

Reno and I went to our first Puppy Class with Pen this morning. It was a bit of a shame that Sky was the only other puppy there (maybe because the class is normally on Saturdays) but Reno didn't seem to mind.

The class started with Reno and Sky running around, playing with each other and us recalling the puppies to us regularly, treating them and then letting them play again. Then moved onto some more formal recalls.

After that we did a little bit of heel work (On both sides, of course, to prepare for Agility) and onto some short stays.

To get him used to having Agility equipment about Pen "banged" the See-saw a few times, we encouraged him through a short tunnel and walked him over some poles on the ground. Then, with use of his clicker, he was encouraged to firstly step onto the plank with two paws, then four paws, then walk along it.

We finished off with starting to learn some hand touches to prepare him for target training.

We've got plenty of homework to be doing before our next lesson!!

Agility Nuts Show

Firstly I have to confess to being a very bad blogger and not taking any photo's at the show!

Reno had a great time. He met Indi properly for the first time (they had a kiss through the bars of his crate before New Year!) and it is fair to say that it was love at first sight. Well, who could blame him?
He was fine on the exercise area but a little apprehensive inside. Indi really helped by playing with him and putting his mind at rest.

Kiros did a superb run in Power and Speed and finished 3rd. I decided to play the joker in jumping and we picked up 5f for dropping a pole (Sod's Law!). Ronnie did a really nice run on quite a complicated jumping course. He got eliminated because I miss timed a handling move but really enjoyed himself.

I judged TYOL jumping in the afternoon and was very pleased with how my courses were received. Quite a few complements and some imaginative routes taken.

Ann ran my boys in the afternoon. She's never ran Ronnie in competition before and hasn't ran Kiros for a year but still managed to go clear in everything! Kiros was a bit slow in TYOL as he was confused to see me in the ring but Ronnie ran lovely picking up a 4th place, his best yet!
Kiros's Agility was in the ring behind me so he had to come and say hello before he started. I couldn't watch his run, but heard him telling Ann off at one point, so had no idea how he'd done.
How surprised were we both to find out he'd won the class?!!

Thanks so much, Ann. You've definitely not lost your touch!

Reno went on his first walk to the Park with the "Big Boy's" on Monday. Walking them there was a bit of an experience. I think I'll have to set out some ground rules regarding which side of me they walk on. I can't believe how many people that have met him think that Reno is Kiros's son (my Gran included!).
Sorry Jo!

I took Reno to Nottingham ADTC on Tuesday night to meet everyone. Again he was a bit nervous inside, this time without Indi to help, and it is clear that he is more interested in Dogs then People. Something that I will have to be aware of although Ann says not to worry about it too much.

Tomorrow will be his first trip to our Vet. He's going to be microchipped and has a double appointment with Kiros. Kiros loves the Vet's so that should keep Reno relaxed.

Kiros's Swimming Lesson

I took Reno back to Lisa's this week so that he could go with his brothers for his 2nd vaccination. He was so pleased to see Hippo and Speedy. It was fun comparing stories of their antics with Lisa. I hope they go to Agility homes so that they can meet up regularly.

On Sunday I'm planning to take Reno to Agility Nut's, provided the weather isn't too cold. It will be his first experience of Agility. I'm judging in the afternoon but I'm sure there will be plenty of willing Puppy sitters there!

I'm really looking forward to running Kiros this year. I've decided that, now Olympia is out of the way, I can afford to run his contacts a bit more in competition. Ann will run him in Agility on Sunday as it is scheduled for the afternoon. I know he will run well for her.

Today we all went to Canine Academy for Kiros's swimming lesson. Reno met Ann and had a lovely run in the paddock with Kiros and Ronnie before we went home.

Here are some photo's of Kiros enjoying his swim.

A "Mini" Adventure!

Hope you all had an great Xmas and New Year.

We went down to Dorset to spend New Year with my Family. It was an excellent opportunity for Reno to meet lots of different people, dogs and other animals. He had a great time!.

Hayden and Bowen had to take it in turns for snuggles.

Bart, Ruby and Ollie loved him and they spent most of their time playing with toys and chasing each other around the garden.

Even Kiros and Ronnie joined in the fun!

It all added up to one very sleepy Pup.

How am I going to keep him occupied now we are home?!!
